Second Hospital Resource Center Opened in Southern Sudan Print

The Capacity Project opened the Wau Teaching Hospital Resource Center on September 8.

Since 2008, the Project has supported a similar resource center at Juba Teaching Hospital as part of its health workforce strengthening efforts. The centers improve access to health information for hospital and ministry staff and students, and provide computer skills training, free Internet access and library services.

Containing 100 medical textbooks, the Wau Teaching Hospital Resource Center will be staffed by a manager and assistant. The minister of health of Western Bahr al Ghazal State attended the opening ceremony along with representatives from USAID, local government, the UN, nongovernmental organizations and the media. The Wau Resource Center is the first of its kind in the state.
