East Africa Meeting Shares Knowledge on Human Resources for Health Print

In August, the Capacity Project hosted a three-day meeting in Entebbe, Uganda to share lessons learned implementing human resources for health (HRH) strategies, and to expand HRH strengthening options in the region.

Representatives from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar discussed regional technical priorities and mechanisms for a regional approach to collaboration. These attendees were also an important audience for their colleagues’ information—as national HRH experts they are likely to continue designing and implementing new HRH work. During the second part of the workshop, these representatives worked with key HRH officials who are responsible for implementing the national HRH strategic plans.

An outcome was a practical list of activities to foster regional HRH collaboration and knowledge-sharing, including a follow-up meeting in May 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya.
