Capacity Project Develops Center of Excellence in Kenya Print

Building on earlier efforts to enhance the family planning (FP) and reproductive health (RH) capabilities and competencies of pre-service institutions in East Africa, The Capacity Project has undertaken the development of a Center of Family Planning Excellence at Kitui Medical Training College in Kenya.

Project staff have completed an assessment of organizational effectiveness at the institution to better understand the human resources management dilemmas and other obstacles that impede the tutors’ and the school’s performance in producing providers who are aptly prepared for FP/RH and other service provision.

A final report will be completed in August, and the Project will subsequently provide recommendations to the Capacity Kenya Associate Award for continued follow-up and support beginning in October.
