Capacity Project Presents on Health Worker Information Systems Print

On May 28, the Capacity Project’s Carl Leitner gave a presentation on training and capacity development as part of the global e-health track of the American Medical Informatics Association’s Spring Congress in Orlando, Florida.

The conference, “People and Populations: Translation to Transformation,” focused on informatics advancements that are transforming health care around the world. Leitner’s session, “Using Free Technologies to Develop Accessible and Sustainable Health Worker Information Systems for Developing Countries,” raised awareness of the need for these systems as part of national health informatics strategies.

In alignment with the Project’s approach, the presentation and interactive discussion emphasized the importance of engaging local stakeholders and training in-country informatics specialists to ensure sustainability of systems.
