Increasing Access to HIV/AIDS Services for Health Workers in Swaziland Print

The Southern Africa Human Capacity Development (SAHCD) Coalition, a Capacity Project associate award, is helping to strengthen support systems for health workers through the “HIV and AIDS in the Workplace” program.

Recently the minister of health led an event to launch the Swaziland Health Sector HIV and AIDS Workplace Policy. The launch aimed to raise awareness of the policy and program for health workers and advocate for stakeholder involvement and resource allocation to facilitate implementation. Selected teams from the 11 facilities where the workplace policy is being implemented presented updates on their achievements and challenges.

SAHCD and the National Workplace Committee have been providing supportive supervision to seven facilities. Reports from the facilities indicate an increase in the numbers of health workers accessing HIV/AIDS and other services.
