Training Policy Development Underway in Kenya Print

In March, the Capacity Project assisted Kenya’s Ministry of Health in the initial steps to develop a national policy on training for health care workers. Project staff met with high-level stakeholders to identify concerns and challenges in advance of a stakeholders’ workshop to inform policy recommendations. The Project plans to help write and implement the policy and the related accreditation, data management and collection components.

Stakeholders expect the policy to help address many of the country’s health workforce challenges and to close gaps between training standards and service delivery needs. This work aligns with the Project’s objective of developing better education and training programs for the health workforce.
