The Capacity Project collaborated with the Rwanda Ministry of Health to develop a coaching guide for preceptors at clinical practicum sites for nursing and midwifery schools throughout the nation, and recently shared the finalized publication with the Ministry’s Nursing and Midwifery Task Force.

The guide prepares preceptors to effectively train and supervise A1 (registered-level) nursing and midwifery students, and focuses on coaching and assessment techniques and methods for offering feedback in a competency-based training environment.

The Project and the nursing and midwifery schools successfully field-tested the guide over the past six months. Once it is formally accepted by the Task Force, the guide will be disseminated for use in nursing and midwifery schools nationwide.
