A second cohort of health workers at Juba Teaching Hospital completed a computer skills training course, which was held in the hospital’s Resource Center from October 27-December 5.
Hospital administrators nominated the participants from all health cadres, and all 11 successfully completed the training. The Capacity Project equipped, furnished and staffed the Resource Center, which opened in May 2008. The training sessions covered introduction to computers, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint, as well as Internet and e-mail skills.
Participants are now able to access health information through various websites, obtain updated information as needed and enter patient and hospital data into databases. In addition to computer training, the Resource Center provides access to print and audiovisual materials, library services and Internet access.
