Nurse Managers Complete Management Training in Southern Sudan |
In August and September, 20 state matrons and senior nurses in Southern Sudan took part in management and supervision training, including two weeks of classroom instruction and one week of practical sessions at a training hospital.
The Capacity Project supported this program to aid Southern Sudan in recuperating its health workforce through professional education and training. Nursing schools collapsed during the decades-long civil war, and today nursing care in Southern Sudan suffers from poor management planning and a shortage of trained professionals.
The director general of HR and development stated that he was confident that the training would improve the quality of nursing care in the hospitals and communities. Participants will go on to train other professionals and ultimately serve as change agents for the health system.
