Successful Work Climate Improvement Initiative Moves Forward in Kenya |

In collaboration with the Capacity Project, the Kenya Ministry of Health has been implementing the Work Climate Improvement (WCI) Initiative over the last two years.
Health sector leaders and facility staff in ten rural sites determined critical factors in the facility environment that can improve staff performance, retention and productivity if well managed. Due to demonstrated improvements in job satisfaction, morale, service utilization and client satisfaction, the Project and the Ministry of Health recently planned a second phase targeting the same facilities.
WCI leadership teams attended workshops to share results and agree on priority activities for Phase Two. Each site developed a one-year workplan with clear objectives, activities and indicators. Many activities will be funded by other donor agencies and the facilities’ budgets. The Capacity Project will continue to support implementation through quarterly coaching visits and regular communication with the leadership teams.
