On September 12, the Capacity Project’s Ummuro Adano collaborated with USAID’s Lois Schaefer and Estelle Quain to deliver a successful session on human resource management (HRM) at the 8th Annual Global Health/USAID Mini University.
The session, titled “Am I Being Treated Fairly? Managing Health Workers for Health Sector Results,†generated rich discussions around the importance of making investments in HRM systems to improve health sector performance in developing countries. Participants left with a strong understanding that the way health workers are managed and supported is key to the quality of health services that they are able to deliver.
Leaders of each of the event’s 60 sessions presented a 30-second core message (in the form of a “pearlâ€) to summarize the session. A panel of judges granted awards to the top three pearls, and the HRM session’s pearl won the first gold prize.
