The Capacity Project recently organized and facilitated training workshops in two Rwandan health facilities participating in the Family Planning Repositioning Vasectomy Initiative.

Three physicians and three nurses from the Byumba hospital in Gicumbi District and the Shyira hospital in Nyabihu District were trained in vasectomy services and performed and assisted in a total of 33 vasectomies during the sessions.

Project staff provided technical assistance and furnished the hospitals with vasectomy equipment and training materials. A follow-up assessment of client satisfaction and provider competencies in late July will determine recommendations for the possibility of expanding the initiative to additional hospitals in Project-supported districts.
