From March 7-14, Capacity Project/Rwanda team members supported the launch of on-the-job training for family planning at two health centers in Rulindo District.
The program is being launched in 45 centers in four districts (Gicumbi, Nyabihu, Rulindo and Rubavu), with plans to expand to all 23 districts where the Capacity Project and the Twubakane Decentralization and Health Program are working. More than 380 health providers are participating in the current eight-week training session, comprised of self-study, group discussions, simulated practice in role plays and with anatomical models, guided practice with clients and knowledge and skills assessments.
Prior to the launch, Project staff oriented all stakeholders and provided each site with anatomical models, family planning references, equipment and supplies and client education materials. The Project is closely monitoring the implementation, and the National Management Team for Family Planning On-the-Job Training will participate in evaluating the results.
