In Southern Sudan, the Capacity Project is supporting the repatriation, on-the-job training and integration of Southern Sudanese health professionals into the public and NGO sectors, beginning with a group of Southern Sudanese doctors who had been living in Canada.
To date, seven doctors have successfully completed the Kenya-based retraining program.Their posts include hospitals in Akobo, Malakal, Werkok, Juba and others to be finalized. Five additional doctors are expected to complete their internship training this Spring.
This initiative supports the Capacity Project’s work to strengthen the Ministry of Health’s ability to plan and manage the health workforce and collaborate with the FBO health community.
