IntraHealth International has named Dr. Ousmane Faye as the new chief of party for the Capacity Project’s Rwanda office.
Dr. Faye brings more than 15 years’ experience in sub-Saharan African health programs to the Project, now in its fourth year as USAID’s global effort to strengthen human resources for health in developing countries.
“Dr. Faye’s experience in leading health initiatives in sub-Saharan Africa and his extensive experience in maternal and reproductive health make him an excellent choice for chief of party for the Capacity Project in Rwanda,†said Pape Gaye, president and CEO of IntraHealth. “His overall background will be an asset to the organization and will ensure the continued success of this office.â€
Previously, Dr. Faye worked as team leader/health systems management specialist on Management Sciences for Health’s Performance Based Financing project in Rwanda. Dr. Faye will bring his leadership in expanding health care services through performance-based incentives to IntraHealth’s health care capacity building work. Dr. Faye has also served as chief of party and advisor on multiple health care projects in Senegal, focusing on maternal health, family planning and family welfare.
Ousmane Faye received his medical doctorate from University Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar, Senegal, in 1987. He received his specialist certificate in gynecology and obstetrics from the same university in 1999.
“We are delighted that Dr. Faye brings his outstanding expertise to the Capacity Project and the IntraHealth global family,†said Anne Wilson, Capacity Project director.
Faye succeeds Karen Blyth as chief of party for the Capacity Project in Rwanda. This month Blyth transitioned to heading USAID’s HIV/AIDS Clinical Services Project in Rwanda, which is also led by IntraHealth and builds on the Capacity Project’s work to strengthen HIV/AIDS services.
Along with IntraHealth, partners in the Capacity Project include IMA World Health, JHPIEGO, Liverpool Associates in Tropical Health (LATH), Management Sciences for Health (MSH), Program for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH) and Training Resources Group, Inc. (TRG).
