Capacity Project Supports Income Generation for People Living with HIV Print E-mail

On March 16, the Capacity Project delivered computer and office supplies to the National Alliance of People Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Guatemala.

This donation will support the creation and operation of an Internet café in the Zacapa hospital, an income-generating pilot project for the Alliance’s self-support groups. Revenue from the café will also help improve PLHIV’s adherence to treatment. The Project’s donation included a laptop, projector and Internet access for the Alliance to facilitate communications with its Central, Western and Eastern regional divisions and increase its capacity to train other PLHIV members.

Founded in 2005, the Alliance comprises 36 groups at the national level. The Project provides assistance to selected NGOs as part of USAID’s Central America Regional Program to improve the well-being of PLHIV through support for self-sustaining income generation.
