The Capacity Project is working with the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Regional Training (CHART) Network, whose Regional Coordinating Unit is located in Kingston, Jamaica.
In March, the Project facilitated a three-day Rapid Needs Assessment (RNA) training workshop in Jamaica for participants from each of the CHART National Training Centers (Jamaica, Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad and two in Haiti) along with representatives from the smaller island countries in the Eastern Caribbean (St. Lucia, Grenada, St. Vincent, Antigua, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis).
A total of 12 countries were represented, with two individuals from each country. Participants learned how to perform RNAs in response to new HIV infection in their respective countries. This event was part of a larger effort that will culminate in mentored RNAs in several countries. Funded by USAID’s Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) Bureau, the Project’s work aims to bring a new RNA process to HIV training for the region.
