HR Information System Aids Health Planning in Swaziland |
Reports generated from the Swaziland Ministry of Health and Social Work’s Access-based human resources information system, a step-solution that was implemented with the Capacity Project’s assistance, provided valuable input for regional health planning workshops.
The data surprised members of the Lubombo Regional Health Management Team, who had been unaware of their region’s heavy dependence on mission nurses. They discovered a number of vacant posts that had slipped through the system and remained unfilled for years, and learned that their ratio of nurses to population was the second highest in the country.
The reports will be used to plan more effectively for the region’s health needs.
